    Description

Protect Your Wire in Heavily Fished Waterways
Slips easily over your underwater wire to protect against fish hooks or hazardous sea floor conditions such as oyster beds!
It is obvious that our lights are guaranteed to attract fish, however in some areas, in addition to attracting fish, you may also attract anglers that are drawn to the plethora of fish swimming around your light. Whereas we build our systems with the highest quality components to endure the harshest marine conditions, if an angler were to fish your light and accidentally hook your wire, this will compromise the integrity of the wire and your system will shut down to prevent further damage. If this happens, you will need to replace your entire wire and bulb assembly, however, to prevent this scenario, and to further lengthen your light’s longevity, we strongly suggest utilizing our Wire Shield which is a heavy-duty rubber sleeve that easily wraps around your wire to keep it safe from hooks, oyster beds, barnacles, etc.
This heavy duty protective sleeve is made right here in the USA and easily slips over your wire to protect it in heavily fished areas or waterways with sharp rocks or debris on the sea floor.
Another reason to purchase our Wire Shield are sheepshead. Although they can be found up and down the East Coast of the United States, there is a heavy concentration in the waters of Southwest Florida. Over time, your wire in the water may accumulate barnacles, and this is absolutely normal, however it just so happens that barnacles are also a food staple for sheepshead. Due to their interesting, human-like teeth, sheepshead have the tendency to eat through the barnacle and inadvertently bite into the wire which can render the light non-operational. By installing our Wire Shield, the sheepshead can still feed on the barnacles, but its teeth would not be able to penetrate the heavy duty rubber sleeve.
    Installation Note:
For nearly all installations, the weight should be positioned within 1 to 3 inches below the bulb. Keeping the light as low as possible within the water column will not only keep it safe from boat props, but will also give the best illumination results. We strongly suggest cutting a short piece of our Wire Shield to cover the area between the weight and the bulb as this is where most damage from fishhooks tends to occur.
