Description
This is a 13" x 7" x 2" sized specimen of the bark of a plant, possibly Sigillaria, which was a plant that grew to treelike proportions during the Pennsylvanian age some 300 million years ago. This specimen shows the imprint of the interior of the bark of the plant preserved in great detail on a sandy siltstone. Both sides of this piece show imprints of the tree bark. Nicely presented. This specimen came from a coal mine in Alabama.
