This is a great item from the recovery team that explored the Andrea Doria - the project was led by Peter Gimbel (an heir to the famous Gimbel's Department Store).  The Doria Project as it was called was able to recovery the ship's safe and inside were US & Italian currency, Travelers Checks etc...  This is an actual Italy 1000 Lire - Italian Banknote recovered and preserved from the Andrea Doria - a hard to find shipwreck recovered note from this famous Italian Liner.  The item is shipwreck recovered - it has been certified by PCGS authentication as Genuine - the item also is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the recovery team known as the Doria Project - their is also a Letter of Authenticity from Art Appraiser Paul Zerler - item is in the original acrylic case sealed Doria Project holder and has been further sealed by the coin / currency grading authenticators PCGS.  Item includes original documents - which are all new - the documents include a Doria Project booklet on the sinking of the Andrea Doria and recovery / Doria Project Authenticity / Zerler Letter of Authenticity / Care Guide to the Acrylic Presentation case.
