NEW SPECIES FOSSIL SEED POD GROUP: BLUFF POINT, KENAI PEMNINSULA, ALASKA - NR!

Here is a very cool and superbly interesting natural fossil plate comprised of nine nicely exposed good sized seed pods trapped in what looks like a siltstone type of sedimentary matrix with some additional fossils of partial seeds and I believe some sections of leaves on the other side of the plate.  The 9 seed pod fossils showing on the top of the piece all appear to be complete and undamaged and range from 1.0 to 1.5 cm in length.
We acquired this piece in an old collection purchase probably a dozen years ago and just recently found it hiding down in the stock room.  The specimen measures
7.5 x 6.8 x 2.4 cm in size (about 3 x 2.75 x 1 inches), weighs 3.9 ounces, and it comes professionally labeled and ready for immediate display with our label and an original collector's label.
So a very interesting part about this specimen is the original label.  This piece was collected by Terry W. McBee of Soldotna, Alaska in 1999 and it was collected in the area of Bluff Point, a Miocene Era locality in the Homerian Formation located along the shore of Kachemak Bay near Homer, at the end of the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska.  There are coal deposits in this area that were mined for years between the late 1800s and mid 1900's.  The original label also states: "This seed pod fossil remains unidentified and is considered a "first find" by the paleontologists I have been able to contact in Alaska!
So this very well may still be an unnamed and unidentified species, and that's about all I know about this cool piece.  Here is what I could find about this area online:  "The town of Homer is situated on the shores of the Cook Inlet on the western half of the Kenai Peninsula, south of Anchorage. A few geological Formations (Kenai Group) in the nearby area contain coal reserves, but mainly the Beluga Fm. is exposed along the beaches of Homer to Anchor Point: this Formation is of freshwater origin, and comprises layers of sandstone, siltstone, and coal. The Pliocene-aged Sterling Fm. is located slightly farther inland, with numerous streams cutting through it and emptying into the Cook Inlet, however this Formation does not contain much coal. There were a few coal mines north and south of Tustumena Lake, back in the late-19th to mid-20th centuries: the Bluff Point Mine, west of Homer, was active from 1899-1951. "
