This incredible bronze sculpture of the Metaluna Mutant was sculpted by world renowned science fiction illustrator, Vincent Di Fate.
Although most recognized for his illustrations, this is his first foray into sculpture!
The piece reflects Vincent’s appreciation for the classic 1955 film,
This Island Earth
, which starred
Jeff Morrow, Faith Domergue, and Rex Reason
.
Here for your consideration is Vincent’s rendition of one of the most iconic and memorable 50s-era creatures from the long list of Universal Studios monsters.
This bronze will serve as a lasting tribute to the imaginative design work of Universal’s special effects group and especially the creative genius of Jack Kevan.
The bronze at auction is number 1, in a limited edition of 8 numbered castings.
The Mutant is sculpted at approximately 1/4 scale and stands on a black granite base measuring 8 ½ by 11 inches.
The height of the figure and base is just over 17 inches and weighs 31 lbs.
About the Artist – Vincent Di Fate
Vincent Di Fate has been an illustrator of scientific, science fictional and aerospace subjects for books, magazines and movies for more than half a century. He is an inductee of both the Illustrators Hall of Fame and the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.
Having created thousands of paintings, Vincent is recognized as one of the world’s foremost illustrators of futuristic themes.
