This is an intricately detailed dagger following the medieval period genre that will make a handsome exhibit in any surrounding. With detailed metal work, the pommel is of great interest; one side is stamped “Earl of Huntington” and the other side “Robert of Locksley”. These are names and titles associated with Robin Hood in the 16
th
century when his stature had been elevated to nobleman.
A popular folk figure, Robin Hood was a highly skilled swordsman and this replica of a dagger he might have used back in his prime would make him proud. Measuring 18-1/2” in the scabbard, it has a double-edge, 10-3/4” blade (semi-sharp) crafted from polished stainless steel. One side of the blade has a blood groove and the other is smooth. The pommel has a simulated red ruby centerpiece with the “Earl of Huntington” and “Robert of Locksley” inscriptions in the circle surrounding the red stone. The dagger is housed in a black scabbard ornately decorated with cast metal fittings. There is a multi-color chain that connects dagger to scabbard.
This is a beautiful rendition that will add to the depth of any serious fantasy sword collection.
