Description
This is a 2" x 1.5" x .5" Pennsylvanian age, 300 million year old fossil showing an interior cast of a branch of Lepidodendron obavatum which was a plant that grew to treelike proportions during the Pennsylvanian age, some 300 million years ago. This particular piece shows the typical diamond shaped or eye shaped pattern of the leaf scars of the plant along with some of the original plant material preserved as coal, all imprinted on sandy siltstone. The reverse side also shows imprints since this is a flattened full round section of the plant. Very fragile and delicate. Excellent detail nicely presented and will make a nice addition to your collection. This came from a coal mine in Alabama.
