Description
This is a 6" x 5" x 1" Pennsylvanian age, 300-million-year-old fossil showing the delicate leaves a Lepidodendron lycopodiodes which was a plant that grew to treelike proportions during the Pennsylvanian age, some 300 million years ago. Lepidodendron lycopodiodes is actually a relative of modern-day club moss as can be readily seen in this specimen. This particular piece shows the leaves as very delicate and detailed imprints of coalified plant material on sandy siltstone. Excellent detail nicely presented and will make a nice addition to your collection. This came from a coal mine in Alabama.
