  • Condition: Extremely rare, one of only 2 produced for Chronicle Collectibles as prototypes for their much loved Compy Dino Maquette. This was hand painted by the same artist who also painted the screen used Compys at Stan Winston Studios for the film. The tail is a separate piece with a metal peg which was how it was originally made(see the "in studio" pic). The right hand has a slightly different position than the production pieces as well. This piece was used for the promotional photos as well as taken on the road to various Cons across the country while these were up for preorder a few years back. Still in great shape from all it's travels, but does have a few minor flaws. The inside of the left leg has a gap and the left leg looks like it was cut straight off at the knee and reattached for some reason. Where the tail attaches also has a small repair spot. There also appears to be some slight paint rubs on the left side midsection. All are very hard to see without very close inspection

    Description

My last Compy, saved the best for last! Extremely rare, one of only 2 produced for Chronicle Collectibles as prototypes for their much loved Compy Dino Maquette. All are very hard to see without very close inspection, overall it looks amazing and much better than any regular production piece. As is usual for prototypes it is quite a bit lighter and fragile than the production pieces and there is nothing on the bottom of the base. I would suggest reusable museum putty for the tail to make sure it would stay in place while on display just as a precaution. Very rare opportunity, you never see prototypes available, and once this one sells you will never see it again so don't hesitate. It will come shipped in a production Compy box and brown shipper.

Even though the Compsognathus species did not play a major role in the fall of the InGen theme park and compound on Isla Nublar, they were a key part of the genetic research to clone the dinosaur DNA on Isla Sorna. One of the lead scientists on Isla Sorna, Dr. Laura Sorkin, loved the Compies because they reminded her of the chickens on her childhood farm. The juvenile Compsognathus were often looked after almost like pets at their lab facility. These small dinosaurs may look cute and sweet, but little Cathy Bowman quickly discovered how terrifying these predatory, bird-like pack animals could be. After feeding the scout of a Compy pack a bite of her sandwich on an island vacation with her parents, she was almost instantly overrun with the carnivorous creatures. She survived the attack, but the event set into motion the lawsuit that lost John Hammond his company and put control into the hands of his less-than-savory nephew, Peter.
Peter wanted to open a new amusement park in San Diego and sent a team to capture and retrieve dinosaurs from Isla Sorna. Upon arrival, one of the Hunters, Dieter Stark, attacked a Compsognathus with a taser for fun while several others were captured to showcase to the Board of Directors of InGen. The board was so pleased that the park was approved. Nothing is ever easy when dealing with pre-historic cloned beasts and one by one the Hunters became the hunted. Dieter Stark eventually found himself lost in the woods and was overwhelmed by a swarm of Compies who slowly consumed him in a riverbed.
