    Description

    The 1,000 Italian lira note was issued by the Bank of Italy in 1990. The note honors Maria Montessori, the Italian educator who designed the Montessori system. Her portrait and the seal of the Maritime Republics (the provinces of Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice) are shown on the front side of the note. The reverse side of the note portrays two school children studying and the penal code. Security features of the note include a solid security thread and watermarks of Maria Montessori and an electrotype BI monogram. Its dimensions are 112 mm by 61 mm. This uncirculated note is dated 3 OTTOBRE 1990 and signed by Antonio Fazio and Angelo Amici.
