Description
This is a 7" x 5.5" x 1.5" Pennsylvanian age, 300 million year old fossil fern named Sphenopteris pottsvillea with compound leaves of the fern imprinted on a sandy siltstone. The imprints show great detail and the original plant material is preserved as coal. There are additional prints on the reverse side of this piece. This came from a coal mine in Alabama. Nicely presented and will make a nice addition to your collection.
