    Description

This is a 6" x 5" x 1" Pennsylvanian age, 300 million year old fossil fern named Lynginopteris hoeinghausi with compound leaves of the fern imprinted on a sandy siltstone along with some of the fern stems.  The imprints show great detail and the original plant material is preserved as coal.  There are also additional prints on the reverse side.  Nicely presented and will make a nice addition to your collection.  This came from a coal mine in Alabama.
