This is a beautiful plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The distinct  fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale - quite striking! The detail of the fossils is just amazing, and the individual fern fronds are nicely showcased and naturally spaced on the large plate of shale. There are many nice, individual fronds intact of THREE different types of ferns - the fern at the bottom right of the plate is a very rare lace fern!
This is a very nice, large display plate of classic white seed fern fossils from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania - very cool!
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen.
