    This is a phenominal fossil leaf. It is a large Allophylus leaf from Utah. This specimen is quite impressive- ALMOST FIVE INCHES LONG! The striking leaf has great color and detail. The venation of the leaf is easily seen, and the petiole (stem) is long and complete down to the the branch attachment point. The impressive leaf is beautifully showcased on the large, squared matrix block. And just to give it some character, the leaf has been partially bug-eaten - it was a meal for an insect
