    Description

300 million year old “Cone in Cone” structure. This is one of the larger and more detailed specimens we found. You can easily see the cone features that give it it’s name. The formation of these is still being debated by geologists. The ones we find come from a marine layer. We have found the occasional Brachiopod inside these mineral formations. As you can see, this stone has a very unique look and is quite beautiful.
Location: Carboniferous Pennsylvanian Period coal fields of eastern Kentucky
