    Description:
The group "true ferns" includes foliage that have been shown to produce spores on the underside of their leaves. Some plants in this group were ground dwelling and others may have been epiphytes. Though most of the plants are treated as tree ferns and have been found to be related to an extand order of ferns called the Marattiales. Today the Marattiales consist of two genera Angiopteris and Marattia.
    Pecopteris
    is derived from the Greek
    pekin
    , (to comb), and
    pteris
, (a fern). This is because the leaflets of
    Pecopteris
fronds are arranged like the teeth on a comb.
